The Venetian Nicolò Petrin drops poker by winning for the fourth consecutive year. Silvia Sangalli imposes herself in the women's field

Yet another great success for the 7th CMP Venice Night Trail which lit up the Venetian night last night
Venice, 2 April 2023 – A veritable dancing light show lit up the heart of the historic center of Venice yesterday evening, giving life to the 7th CMP Venice Night Trail, the 16-kilometre night trail and 51 bridges, organized by Venicemarathon, and which recorded yet another great success of participants with 5,000 athletes at the start, including many foreigners.
Confirmed the prediction of the eve, with the fourth consecutive victory of the home athlete Nicolò Petrin, pleasantly renamed 'the flying baker' because of his profession as a baker which alternates with a sports career. Licensed for the Vicenza Marathon, Nicolò set the best time ever, completing the 16 kilometers and 51 bridges in 59'22". “It's always nice, and never taken for granted, to reconfirm and I'm really happy with this victory. Tonight there were the ideal conditions to race well even though I've been awake for almost 20 hours now due to my work. Every year the charm of Venice is always different”.
Behind him came Filippo Barizza, Venetian athlete wearing Atl colours. Dolomiti Belluno who remained together with Petrin up to the 14th kilometre, suffering in the final the deadly stretch of the flying baker. Third step for the Trentino Luca Vivaldi of ASd Stivio Running.
In the women's field, victory of the mountain trail running specialist Silvia Sangalli, bearer of the Atl. Dolomiti Belluno which won in 1h11'28": "It's the first time I've taken part in this event and I found it very demanding and different from the mountain trails due to the many changes of pace, but really very fascinating. I suffered a bit from the humidity, but I'm happy to have won tonight". Second, with a gap of 1'35", came Vania Rizzà of the Atl. Bassano Running Store and third Martina Zanette (1h14'22").
The river of lights left punctually at 9.00 pm from the Cruise Terminal 123 of the Marittima of the Port of Venice, the one that until a few years ago was the docking place for large cruise ships, on an evening characterized by crisp temperatures, but heated by the warmth and enthusiasm of the many runners.
The magic of the race ignited when the athletes activated their front torches, on the notes of the Hymn of San Marco and the Hymn of Italy, to then give life to a very long luminous snake that entered the dark of the city , illuminating the most suggestive areas of the historic center by torchlight, with passages on the Calatrava bridge, in Piazza San Marco, on the Accademia bridge and at the Basilica della Salute.
With its large and welcoming internal and external spaces, the terminal was therefore transformed for the occasion first into the 'home' of the runners, with all the pre-race services, and then into a sort of open-air disco, made so by the music by deejay Dacj and the spotlights mounted on the finish portal that helped make the event a great party, which began just before the start with wild zumba choreographies and ended well after midnight with the arrival of the last competitors, always to the rhythm of music.
The event was also experienced in a festive way by the 90 Inail employees, coming from every corner of the Veneto and led by the energetic regional manager Enza Scarpa, who took part in the race with great enthusiasm, to demonstrate the effectiveness of movement and sport in general as a tool for psychophysical well-being and social cohesion.
During the evening, the special 'Honda Italia' prize was also awarded to Martina Comisso, first classified woman in the province of Venice. The trophy was presented by the exponents of the Japanese brand, from this year's 'Main Partner & Official Car' of the event, Costanza Sabatini and Riccardo Massa, who expressed their great appreciation for the excellent success of the event.
Paola Gazzola and Nicolò Rossignoli of CMP, title sponsor of the event for 5 years, were also enthusiastic about the umpteenth success of this event, who awarded the winners of the race together with the representatives of Venicemarathon Piero Rosa Salva, Stefano Fornasier and Lorenzo Cortesi.
"This year the weather conditions have been decidedly better than last year, but in the future we will also order a few more degrees - joked the vice mayor of the Municipality of Venice Andrea Tomaello at the start, who then continued - the high number of athletes foreigners demonstrates how this event attracts tourists who like to visit the city in a completely unusual way: a concept of tourism that we like very much! On my behalf and on behalf of the Municipality of Venice, I thank Venicemarathon, all the forces of order and the associations involved and the many volunteers along the route for the great organizational effort".
Great satisfaction also in the Venicemarathon house: “We experienced a truly amazing edition and it was impressive to see so many competitors parading under the starting arch, in a truly fascinating and unique choreography of lights. On the other hand, running in Venice at night only happens at the CMP Venice Night Trail and we are aware of the enormous potential of this event, which we will be able to grow further gradually and with the utmost respect for the context in which it takes place. I just have to thank the Municipal Administration, the title sponsor CMP and all the companies that support this event, the Port Authority for having hosted us, the Police Forces, the Green Cross, the Civil Protection and the many volunteers as always at the our side” – these are the words of the president of Venicemarathon Piero Rosa Salva, at the end of the event and after waiting almost 4 hours for the last competitor to deliver the 'bricola', the special souvenir medal.

Tomorrow evening the 7th CMP Venice Night Trail will take place in Venice with 5,000 athletes at the start!

Departing at 9.00 pm from the Port of Venice, the trail organized by Venicemarathon will enter the heart of Venice at night, by torchlight.
Nicolò Petrin ready to drop the poker of victories.
The CMP Venice Running Village opens from 3 pm this afternoon at Cruise Terminal 123.
Venice, 31 March 2023 – The curtain has officially risen on one of the most fascinating events in the world: the CMP Venice Night Trail. In just over 24 hours, the alleys and calluses of Venice will welcome the passage of 5,000 runners who, with their front torches, like many small dancing fireflies, will give life to a unique and very spectacular choreography for the public and participants.
A very suggestive event which was also a strong attraction for many foreign athletes. This year, 32 nations are represented and the countries with the highest number of members are in order: Austria, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary and the United States. Another relevant figure is the number of women registered: there are over 2,000, representing 40% of the participants, including 170 foreigners.
"We are ready to welcome with great enthusiasm and maximum commitment the 5,000 runners who have chosen to spend a different Saturday evening, dedicated to sport, entertainment but above all to the discovery of a new and fascinating Venice. We thank the Institutions in advance , the Police Forces, numerous volunteers and the assistance services who will be involved along the way, and not only, to guarantee the success of the event" - these are the words of the Venicemarathon president Piero Rosa Salva.
The most mature athletes in the competition are Loredana Mizzaro and the German Walter Schmidt, while the youngest are Federica Fietta, 17 years old, and Lorenzo Cecconetto and Davide Agostinetto, both 16 years old.
Among the best entries, the name of the Venetian Nicolò Petrin stands out, the winner of the last three editions. The athlete registered for the Vicenza Marathon and a baker by profession, is ready to drop the poker of victories: "I'm very fit, I started the season really well by registering my personal results both on the half marathon and on the 10K and I can't wait time to run one of my favorite races, the CMP Venice Night Trail!”.
There are also many groups registered. The main ones are Asd Run It (60 people), Asd Oll Scars (43 people), Atletica Vicentina (41 people) as well as obviously the Venicemarathon group which has 70 members.
Also news is the massive participation of the INAIL Institute and its staff, who joined with 90 participants. The event was seized as an opportunity to share and convey the Institute's values and mission to citizens, but above all to invite them to practice sport as a tool for psychophysical well-being and to encourage the adoption of a healthy lifestyle, which reduce the risks associated with a sedentary lifestyle.
The CMP Venice Running Village - The party will begin on Friday afternoon with the opening of the CMP Venice Running Village (Marittima del Porto di Venezia - Cruise Terminal 123) from 3 to 8 pm and then on Saturday 1 April from 9 to 11 pm. Here the competitors will withdraw the bib and the race pack, will be able to buy the official CMP merchandising ideal for those who practice outdoor sports and visit the many sponsoring companies. There will also be the possibility to have the t-shirt customized by “Il bottega”. The village will be animated by the Ali hostesses and the ever-present orange accent-shaped mascot, who will distribute gadgets to all sportsmen and visitors.
In addition, all visitors will have the opportunity to visit the Honda Italia stand, get to know the new Honda HR-V Full Hybrid** and receive a free front torch, an essential item for illuminating the darkest and most evocative stretches of this fascinating nocturnal trail.
The events program for Saturday 1 April includes: 11 am: Presentation of CMP - official jersey and merchandising; 11.30: Finisher Medal Presentation, 12: CMP Warm Up; 12.30: ProAction - Advice on the integration plan to face the competition; 3 pm: Presentation of CMP - official jersey and merchandising; 3.30 pm: Presentation of the Finisher Medal; 4 pm: CMP Warm Up; 4.30 pm: ProAction - Advice on the integration plan to face the tender; 6 pm: Presentation of CMP - official shirt and merchandising; 18.30: Presentation of the Finisher Medal; 8pm: Warm Up; 9 pm: Departure of the 7th CMP Venice Night Trail; 10.30 pm: Awards ceremony followed by the CMP Venice Night Party.
To enrich the post-race, this year for the first time there will be the massage service managed by the Diabasi professional school with the use of products from the sponsor Lacomed: in addition to letting their muscles loosen, the athletes will receive valuable advice on the products.
CMP Venice Night Party - A novelty of this 2023 edition will be the final post-race party, with the deejay Dacj who will make all theparticipants the fatigues of the race.
Refreshments - About halfway through the competition (Giardini della Biennale) a refreshment point will be set up with San Benedetto water and Palmisano biscuits. Numerous public fountains, located along the race course, will help the athletes to refresh themselves during the race. With a view to sustainability, immediately after refreshment, numerous volunteers will ensure that the athletes throw their waste in the appropriate containers and not along the route, thus avoiding the risk of littering the city. At the finish line, the athletes will receive the Alì-branded final refreshment kit with San Benedetto water, ProAction supplements, a 33cl can of Bavaria Premium, and some delicacies from the Palmisano ovens.
Medal - The medal, which all finishers will receive at the finish line immediately after refreshment, is once again a tribute to the city of Venice. It is about 'Bricola', that is, the three wooden poles tied together and placed in the water, to signal the low tide and the navigable canals: a distinctive element of the Venetian lagoon and a collector's item for its uniqueness.
Awards - Immediately after the arrival, the first three men and the first three women who will reach the finish line will be awarded. The category awards will be made afterwards and all the winners will be contacted by e-mail.
Honda Italia will also award the first woman to finish in the province with the 'Honda Trophy'.
Health Service - The health service, coordinated by the Green Cross - Venice section, will be guaranteed at departure and arrival with a first aid point and water ambulances along the route.
Parking - Close to the start and finish area, the 1,000 parking spaces made available free of charge by the organization were all quickly sold out. In the nearby Tronchetto area, however, the following many parking lots are available: Tronchetto Parking, Parking P5, Parking 280, Isola del Tronchetto, all close to the starting area and in any case connected with a circular shuttle service that will take the athletes to the Village. Furthermore, the organizers recommend compacting the cars, arriving in Venice at least three per vehicle, leaving the other cars free of charge in San Giuliano Park (Porta Gialla) with a copy on the dashboard.
Time Limit - The time limit is 3 hours.
Also on this occasion Venicemarathon runs together with the Tourism Directorate of the Veneto Region towards the goal of sustainability. Through the Take It Slow project, funded under the Interreg Italia Croatia programme, the Region is carrying out a series of interventions to enhance the tourist offer by focusing on awareness and respect, both for the environment and for people, to create in Veneto increasingly sustainable and accessible destinations, considering everyone's needs. On the occasion of the 7th CMP Venice Night Trail, participants were invited to answer a few short questions, which will help to understand everyone's impact on the environment in everyday life, between home, work, travel and food. Points are awarded for each answer and the first 50 athletes who rank among the most virtuous will receive a €10 discount voucher to be used for the next edition of the Venice Night Trail!
The event, like all the events organized by Venicemarathon, adheres to the #EnjoyRespectVenezia project and all participants have been invited, right from the registration stages, to adopt responsible and respectful behavior towards the city, its inhabitants and the environment. On the other hand, the trail, by its nature, provides for an approach to the race that is less oriented towards chronometric performance but more sensitive to the landscape context in which it takes place.
The 7th CMP Venice Night Trail is included in the calendar of promotional events of the Municipality of Venice "LeCittà in Festa" 2023.

Five thousand lights are ready to illuminate the Venetian night with the 7th CMP Venice Night Trail

Venice, 28 March 2023 - Five thousand moving lights will illuminate the Venetian night, up and down 51 bridges and 16 kilometers long, on Saturday 1 April, on the occasion of the seventh edition of the CMP Venice Night Trail, the night trail organized by Venicemarathon with the fundamental support and patronage of the Municipal Administration of Venice, of the Port System Authority of the Northern Adriatic Sea and titled again this year by the prestigious CMP brand of the F.lli Campagnolo group.
The night race in the historic center of Venice is reconfirmed as an extremely popular event, with registrations closed well in advance due to bib numbers sold out and the large number of foreign athletes from 32 countries.
On the other hand, only thanks to the CMP Venice Night Trail will athletes experience the charm of running at night, wrapped in darkness and silence in one of the most beautiful cities in the world and accompanied by the sweet melody of the waves that caress the banks of the canals. Athletes will have to wear frontal torches that will illuminate calli and campielli, in a truly magical atmosphere.
The departure is scheduled for 9 pm from the Maritime area of the Port of Venice, more precisely from the Cruise Terminal 123, where the CMP Village will be built with all the pre- and post-race services and where the athletes can easily leave their car a few meters from the starting and finishing line. The spectacular route will enter the most typical areas of the city, touching points of great charm such as Piazza San Marco, the Accademia bridge, Punta della Dogana, the Fondamenta delle Zattere and the Giudecca Canal.
The event was presented this morning at Ca' Farsetti in Venice, the Town Hall. In addition to the top management of Venicemarathon, Piero Rosa Salva, Stefano Fornasier and Lorenzo Cortesi, the 'hosts' were present, the deputy mayor and municipal councilor for Sport Andrea Tomaello and the municipal councilor for Territorial Promotion Paola Mar, the Planning Director Strategy and Development of the Port System Authority Antonio Revedin and Paola Gazzola and Nicolò Rossignoli of CMP.
"The seventh edition of the CMP Venice Night Trail finally restarts without restrictions and with extraordinary vitality - declared the president of Venicemarathon Piero Rosa Salva - The success of this trail is linked above all to the spectacular and unique nature of its route, designed to be fascinating and at the same time respectful of the fragility of Venice. We have limited the members to 5,000, however achieving an extraordinary result and I would like to underline how the growth of this event, as it happens for all our events, has always been gradual and compatible with the city. This success is thanks to the invaluable collaboration with the Municipal Administration, the Police Forces, the Port Authority, the sponsors, but above all the many volunteers deployed along the route".
Deputy mayor Andrea Tomaello spoke of great competence and organizational ability, recalling how last year, in truly prohibitive weather conditions, the organizational machine showed great readiness and speed in reacting to an unforeseen and emergency situation: "It is of a very fascinating run and route because you rarely have the opportunity to run at night and especially in a city like ours. We recommend that athletes wear head torches, but there will be no shortage of volunteers and security personnel. In fact, our thanks as municipal administration go to the perfect organizational machine of Venicemarathon which, once again, has been able to create a sporting event that respects the city and is in harmony with it".
"It is a perfectly integrated race with Venice - added the commissioner Mar - and which proves to be further proof of collaboration between city institutions. Once again a quality appointment has been organized and loved by both sportsmen and citizens and as the Department that deals with the promotion of events in the area we can only be proud of this moment of celebration".
"The Port System Authority, in coordination with the Port Authority, the Guardia di Finanza, the Border Police, the Customs Agency and the VTP terminal has worked again this year to enhance a strategic place of interaction between city and port" - underlined Antonio Revedin, Director of Strategic Planning and Development - "For this reason we express our full satisfaction in welcoming, at the Marittima areas, the collection of bibs and race packs, the departure and arrival of the athletes who will participate in the seventh edition of the Venice Night Trail.Furthermore, also in the 2023 edition, the athletes will cross the port waterfront between San Basilio and Sant'Andrea, until they return to the Marittima, thanks to the varco specially opened by the Customs. These are all areas in which AdSP is investing energies and resources to develop the infrastructures and assets of the port state property with a view to authentic and positive connection with the city".
The general coordinator Lorenzo Cortesi then took the floor and discussed the value, in terms of appeal, that the event is achieving and the strong commitment of the company in terms of sustainability: "The quality of the CMP Venice Night Trail is growing rapidly and it is an event that has become very attractive to big brands. In addition to CMP, which immediately believed in us and has been by our side for 5 years, we underline the important media partnership of two prestigious publications such as Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport and above all we announce the entry of Honda with which we are launching the project ' Honda illuminates Venice' in a logistically perfect container like the Cruise Terminal 123, where the CMP Venice Village will be born, open this year for two days. We have also proceeded to reserve 1,000 free parking spaces for athletes thanks to the collaboration with Park For Fun. Along the way, we will set up the intermediate refreshment point in the Giardini della Biennale and many volunteers will make sure that the athletes throw their waste in the appropriate containers".
Among the sponsors, Nicolò Rossignoli of CMP spoke: "Marrying this event means combining the competitive aspect with the inclusive one, where everyone, even beginners, can try their hand at a demanding distance, but within a stimulating context full of charm. We believe very much in this event and this year too we have created the technical jersey that all the athletes will find in the race pack".
The presentation was concluded by the vice president of Venicemarathon Stefano Fornasier who provided some technical details: "The CMP Venice Night Trail, precisely because of its specificity and the date on which it takes place, represents an important and highly appealing early season event for trail specialists. On the other hand, 51 bridges to tackle strongly recall the idea of demanding mountain climbs. Among the members, we are currently announcing that of the winner of the last three editions, Nicolò Petrin, but we will shortly communicate the complete list of top runners".
The prestigious Japanese car brand Honda, 'Main Partner & Official Car' of the event, therefore sets out to 'run' alongside the most important running events in Italy and does so starting from Venice with the project 'Honda illuminates Venice '. Not just a slogan, but an excellent opportunity reserved for all participants in the race to test the new range of hybrid vehicles and receive a free headlamp, an indispensable object for illuminating the darkest and most evocative stretches of this fascinating nocturnal trail. The Japanese brand will therefore be present at the CMP Village, on Friday 31 March and Saturday 1 April, to welcome enthusiasts with test drives and give away a head torch.
