Venice, 4 April 2024 – In just over 48 hours, the curtain will officially rise on the eighth edition of the CMP Venice Night Trail, the evocative nocturnal urban trail organized by Venicemarathon, with the fundamental support and patronage of the Municipal Administration of Venice and of the Port System Authority of the Northern Adriatic Sea.
Over 5,000 athletes equipped with headlamps, like many small fireflies, will descend into the streets and squares of a fascinating Venice at night, challenging themselves along a challenging route of 16 kilometers and 51 bridges and giving life to a unique choreography of lights and very spectacular, both for the participants themselves and for the public.
The race will start at 9pm from the Port of Venice, Cruise Terminal 123 where, thanks to the collaboration with Venezia Terminal Passeggeri, the CMP Village will be built with all the pre- and post-race services. Two starts are scheduled: the first reserved for the competitive race and the second for the non-competitive one.
The competitors will then enter the heart of the city, crossing points of great charm such as Piazza San Marco, the Accademia bridge, Punta della Dogana, Fondamenta delle Zattere.
This year too the event was a strong attraction for many foreign athletes. There are 30 nations represented and the countries with the highest number of members are France, Germany, Austria, Great Britain, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and the United States. At a national level, as well as from all of Northern Italy (Valle d'Aosta, Piedmont, Lombardy, Veneto, Friuli and Emilia-Romagna), there are many athletes from Central Italy such as Lazio, Umbria, Tuscany and Marche: numbers that certainly will generate a significant economic impact.
At Venicemarathon you can therefore breathe enthusiasm and emotion, waiting for the big event: "We open our long organizational season with the eighth edition of the CMP Venice Running Trail, an extraordinary event that every year always arouses strong interest in athletes from all over the world , thanks to the spectacular nature of its route which shows a new and fascinating Venice. We are ready to welcome the over 5,000 members with joy and commitment and we thank the institutions, the police forces, the numerous volunteers and the assistance services that they will be committed along the route, and not only, to guarantee the success of the event" - these are the words of the president of Venicemarathon Piero Rosa Salva.
Congratulations for the success achieved in numerical terms and for the work carried out in recent years at a promotional level come from the deputy mayor with responsibility for sport of the Municipality of Venice Andrea Tomaello and from the councilor for Territorial Promotion Paola Mar.

"Combining sport with the choreographic spectacle of the thousands of lights that will cross Venice, the Venice Night Trail confirms itself once again this year as a one-of-a-kind sporting event that celebrates the beauty of Venice and enhances our Marittima, through the universal language of sport ." - these are the words of Andrea Tomaello.
"The eighth edition of a fascinating event that summarizes very well the spirit of the trail in the name of the limited number, already sold out for some time, and of respect for the City of Venice, joining the #enjoirespectvenezia campaign. A big thank you from the bottom of my heart to organizers, participants, volunteers and sponsors" - these are the words of Paola Mar.
Curiosity Members - The most mature athletes in the race are the German Walter Schmidt (87 years old) and Regina Bortolozzo (75 years old), while the youngest are Giorgia Ferro and Mayer Marvin, both 16 years old.

Among the best participants, the name of the Venetian Nicolò Petrin stands out, the athlete-baker winner of the last four editions, who will try to put his name on the event's roll of honor for the fifth consecutive year. Giving him a hard time will be the G.P. Livenza Sacile standard bearer Giovanni Iommi (winner of the first and second edition) and Giacomo Esposito, the Montebellunian from Atletica San Biagio, fresh winner of the Italian marathon title. Among the VIPs, the Garmin 'Ambassador' Valentina Ratti will be at the start: yoga, pilates teacher, osteopath and personal trainer with a huge following on social media.

The CMP Venice Running Village – The village will open its doors to the public tomorrow, Friday 5 April, from 3pm to 8pm. On Saturday 6 April it will open from 9am to 11pm. The official inauguration is scheduled for Saturday at 12pm.
Here the competitors will collect their bib and race pack, will be able to purchase the official CMP merchandising ideal for those who practice outdoor sports and visit the many sponsoring companies. There will also be the possibility of having the t-shirt personalized by "Il shopetto". The village will be animated by Miky Barone.
Furthermore, this year too the Diabasi Professional Massage School will be present which with its best students and p

roprofessionals will loosen the athletes' muscles starting from Friday 5 April and will continue throughout the day on Saturday 6 April and also after the race, using Lacomed products. Finally, the village will be animated by the hostesses Alì and the inevitable orange mascot in the shape of an accent, who will distribute gadgets to all athletes and visitors.
Final Refreshment and Venice Night Party - Once the race is over, the Venice Night Party will begin! The athletes will receive the final refreshment bag with San Benedetto water, Pro Action supplements, Palmisano biscuits, Dole fruit and Bavaria beer and will then be invited to the Pasta Party which, thanks to the collaboration with the Sgambaro pasta factory, will serve the excellence of its Etichetta Gialla pasta . Deejay Dacj will then take care of making all the participants dance and work off the fatigue of the race.

CMP Official T-shirt - The official race shirt, signed by CMP and which all athletes will receive free together with the package, recalls one of the symbols of Venice: the column of San Marco which stands at the entrance to Piazza San Marco ( together with that of San Tòdaro) and presents a chromatic combination of orange, black, gray and white. The t-shirt was chosen through a survey via Facebook in which 890 people participated. There were four proposals to vote on and the winning shirt received 358 votes.

Medal - The medal, which all athletes will be able to wear around their neck at the end of the race, is inspired for this edition by the quatrefoil cross, the typical Venetian Gothic style fretwork, an ornamental motif of the Doge's Palace in Venice.
Awards - Immediately after the arrival, the first three men and the first three women to reach the finish line will be awarded prizes. Category awards will be made retrospectively and all winners will be contacted via email.

Health Service - The health service, coordinated by the Green Cross - Venice section, will be guaranteed at departure and arrival with a first aid point and along the route by water ambulances. Furthermore, the athletes of the BLS-RUN-TEAM, 'resuscitatorsINcorsa...' rescuers, a group of runners qualified for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and early defibrillation maneuvers, will also run alongside the athletes.
The event, like all the events organized by Venicemarathon, adheres to the #EnjoyRespectVenezia project and all participants were invited, right from the registration stage, to adopt responsible and respectful behavior towards the city, its inhabitants and the environment. On the other hand, the trail, by its nature, provides an approach to the race that is less oriented towards chronometric performance but more sensitive to the landscape context in which it takes place.
The 8th CMP Venice Night Trail is included in the calendar of promotional events of the Municipality of Venice "Le Città in Festa" 2024.
The sponsors of the event are: CMP (Title Sponsor); Alì, Pro Action, San Benedetto, Palmisano (Official Sponsor); Banco BPM (Financial Sponsor), Garmin (Official Timekeeper), Bavaria, Dole, Diabasi - Professional School of Massage, Lacomed, Sgambaro Molino e Pastificio, ParkforFun, Trochetto Parking, Gac Power & Eventi (Official Supplier); Radio PiterPan and Radio Bellla & Monella (Official Radio), Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport (Media Partner).
